Tiara Jade brings the curtain down with a discussion with authors of Indo-Caribbean heritage with Beti combing through the threads of Indo-Caribbean womanhood. “‘Beti’ is the Bhojpuri dialectical word for 'daughter', the first moniker bestowed on Indo-Caribbean women.” Our three authors tackle the inherited narratives of these women and set out to design and describe new traits for contemporary expressions of Indo-Caribbean and Caribbean diaspora womanhood. What does it mean to re-invent ‘Beti’, incorporating tradition while embracing the empowering energies of a multicultural pan Caribbean?
